Stoke Gabriel

Located on the Dart Estuary, Stoke Gabriel is our closest village and can be easily reached by car, bus or on foot. Enjoy a leisurely stroll from the park along bridle paths and country lanes to visit this picturesque waterside haven.

With a tranquil mill pool, this historic jewel on the dart has retained its quintessential English village atmosphere. Beautiful views of the estuary make this a popular stop for visiting sailors and a great starting point for many canoe adventures. If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land you can feed the ducks or why not try your luck at crabbing on the weir?

Go for a wander through the ancient orchard and make sure to pay a visit to the village church yard where you will find a 1000-year-old yew tree. Legend has it that if you walk around it backwards 7 times your wish will come true!

Stop at the River Shack for a snack by the water or head to one of the pubs to sample the local cider or apple juice!

With all this and more it’s no wonder people say it’s the 'best kept secret in Devon'!
